“A heart connection creates miracles”

Delphine — You came today with about ten instruments for this family constellation. It was a first for you in this format. How did you experience it?

Aurore — It flowed with such ease — through the hearts that were connected. I barely knew Elia, but a heart connection creates miracles. I had the koshi, the shamanic drum, the rain stick… Instruments that speak for us, that help us process something difficult that we cannot name. Sometimes it is simply unnameable. And the instrument helps name things, sublimate them, transcend them.

“It was a baby — an extension of my soul”

Delphine — The shamanic drum — I understood it to be something very personal. Was it given to you? How does it work?

Aurore — The one I had today, I chose it. But I have others that I made myself. And there is a whole process — almost like giving birth — where you go with a shaman to create your drum from the skin that chooses you. My first one took three days of gestation, of emotional upheaval. It was my soul soaking into the material. And when I found it again, it was a baby. There was an extension of my soul in that instrument. Which means that when you play, everything feels right — because it came from you, for you.

“If an instrument calls to you, it’s waiting for you”

Delphine — Can someone with no musical background play a shamanic drum?

Aurore — You don’t need to be an opera singer or have fifteen years of music theory to connect with an instrument. If an instrument calls to you, it’s waiting for you. The drum is an instrument that keeps you grounded in matter while giving voice to something greater than yourself. Just one sound — boom — already, it’s like a heartbeat. There is a deep rightness in this instrument.

“Everything begins, continues and ends with the body”

Delphine — I’ve followed meditations with the philosopher Fabrice Midal. He uses the body a lot — movements at the end of sessions to create real transformation. Because it’s through movement that we shift from an agitated state to a calm one. Ease comes with gesture, not with the mind. Is that what you experience in your work too?

Aurore — Everything begins, continues and ends with the body. Without this body, our soul simply cannot do its work. Let us restore dignity to our bodies. Their imperfections are all the more beautiful because they create our singularity, our humanity. We are plants with a large brain. We pick up on so much — but sometimes our heads get a little inflated, and we need to come back to the belly, which is the second brain. And the uterus, for women — it holds a necessity to understand our body differently, and to let it guide us.

“We are vessels of water”

Delphine — Why is sound so powerful on us? We often say everything is vibration — but concretely, what happens in the body?

Aurore — We are made of seventy percent water. So literally, when a sound is emitted, there is a vibration, a specific frequency that touches our cells, our water molecules — and delivers information. And this is instantaneous. We don’t even need to mentally process it — it’s already happening inside us. Water and fire combine beautifully, like yin and yang dancing together. The rain stick is the binding element — you can be holding anger, and the water soothes it.

“Breathing is always the first thing I recommend”

Delphine — You mentioned relearning how to breathe. Is that something you recommend often to your clients?

Aurore — Yes. We have been so conditioned to think through the mind that we have created anxiety, physical knots that prevent us from breathing fully. Because it works both ways: breathing invites us to feel. And the mind does not want to feel suffering. But it is precisely through feeling that suffering that we receive the message — and grow. It is in our interest to master this, not to suffer more, but to realise we have the resources to return to inner unity. For me, everything begins and ends with the breath. We left our mother’s aquatic world through breath. And the last breath we give on this earth will be that too — returning the spirit’s breath to the earth.

“Spiritual ego is the great trap”

Delphine — I often experience highs and lows on this path. Sometimes I feel almost like a miracle-maker — and then I come back down. Is there a balance to find?

Aurore — Remember that spiritual awakening is not a quest — it is a journey. And that makes all the difference. Because sometimes we want to go further, dig deeper, purify ourselves — to the point where the spiritual ego is in charge, not the heart. We activate a great deal, but integrate very little. So there is this humility of recognising: there are high moments, and there are low moments. That is life, that is duality. And in those low moments — can I remain present, without putting myself down, without trying to change what is? For me, it means going into the fertile chaos of life in 3D — and still remaining in grace.

“The feminine mystique is to radiate without effort”

Delphine — I see in you an ease in shining, in taking up space. In the first half of my life, I stayed in the shadows — I wore the consulting uniform, I hid my femininity. That transformation took a long journey. Was it the same for you?

Aurore — I always felt remarkably singular from a very young age. And yet I suffered enormously. I was so afraid to shine, to take up space — afraid of being made to pay for it. Female jealousy, competition. It was a long journey to reconnect to my heart and say: you are safe, it’s going to be alright. You will find your tribe. Souls who celebrate you in your light. The feminine mystique is that natural feminine that does not need to perform or seduce — it exists by its very nature and essence. When am I in my heart, and when am I in my ego? That is the question. Because the light never really disappears. You can cover it in layers — but it’s there.

“The uterus is the ultimate transgenerational organ”

Delphine — I think there is a lack of feminine spiritual figures. We see many men speaking to women about spirituality. What do you think?

Aurore — We hold an infinite wisdom that is not taken seriously — by ourselves. That is the problem. Something in us has separated us so deeply from this wisdom, in a constant quest to please, to be approved of. That system needs to be dismantled. Women carry a mystical wisdom that goes beyond them — through the uterus. The uterus is the ultimate transgenerational organ. It speaks to you without you even knowing it. Maternal instinct — you see it clearly. A mother knows. She knows what is good and not good for her child. Why should it be any different for other areas of life? I think the first question every woman must ask herself is: what is stopping me from allowing myself to show up?

“My life was won the day I was born”

Delphine — To close — where can people find you, read you, listen to you?

Aurore — On Instagram: @aurore.fagnen. My book L’Oracle des roses médecines is published by Éditions Trédaniel. And on Spotify, you can find my music under the names Aurore Fanien and Aurore Abella — Aurore Abella is my mother’s name. She is a pianist. I want to honour her, and all the women artists who came before me. My first EP was recorded when I was eight months pregnant. These are sound healings — meditative, sacred, rooted in ancient Egyptian spirituality, in Mary Magdalene, in a powerful feminine spiritual tradition.

And one last thing, because it matters deeply to me: believe in your dreams. I am no different from anyone else. Each of us carries missions greater than ourselves. And remember — “earning a living.” We should never say that. My life was won the day I was born from my mother’s womb. Allow yourself to take pleasure, to show up, to bring joy back to the centre of your heart. I believe that, today, is essential.

Interview conducted at Change Now, Paris — May 2026 By Delphine Souquet for 2Goodmedia

Aurore Fagnen is a French artist, somatic therapist and shamanic musician dedicated to healing the feminine — particularly women whose femininity has been violated or silenced. A true “slasher” in the best sense of the word, she moves fluidly between music, therapy, performance and spiritual practice.

Born into a family of musicians, she trained at the Actor Studio in New York at 22, before leaving the world of cinema — refusing the objectification of the female body — and devoting herself entirely to healing work. That turning point led her through a dark night of the soul, a spiritual awakening, and a decade-long shamanic path initiated by an Inuit shaman.

For fifteen years she has studied the body — its intelligence, its traumas, its memory — and uses sound, movement and breathwork to release what talk therapy cannot always reach. Her instruments — shamanic drum, koshi chimes, rain stick — are not tools but allies, each carrying a specific frequency and intention.

She is the author of L’Oracle des roses médecines (Éditions Trédaniel) and composes sacred, meditative sound healings available on Spotify under the names Aurore Fanien and Aurore Abella — a name she uses in honour of her mother, a pianist, and all the women artists who came before her.

She runs women’s circles and sound circles in Paris, and her daughter Aube remains her deepest motivation: to show future generations that it is not dangerous to be a powerful woman in the world.
